about
Jötunheimr in Old Norse Mythology is one of the nine worlds and is the homelands of the giants ''Jötnar''. These beings were forces of chaos that actively menaced both men and the gods. This piece is inspired by this and focuses on larger than life drums with tagelharpa.

Gaetir has a unique approach to Germanic folk, and it touches on an aspect of the old mindset and way of life that other folk artists capture in a select few songs, not entire albums. That is the Faustian Spirit: a celebration of the majesty of the infinite expanse and the unknown, infused with awe, fear, and curiosity. Gaetir captures this sometimes destructive yet irresistible attraction to the more primordial reaches of the cosmic thread. Highly recommend listening during storms. Rúnatal

This whole album is something raw, primal and gritty - I'm not saying I'd play it over speakers to guests but I am saying that listening to it through headphones sends me somewhere else, mentally, for a while. ..exactly as it should. gwisgo
